Michael FitzGerald - Owner and Coach

After completing his Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Kinetics with First Class Honours from St. Francis Xavier University, Michael moved to Calgary in 2008. After joining the already established Optimum Performance Training, founded by James 'OPT' FitzGerald, Michael has accumulated over 6,000 hours of fitness programming and training. This experience has sharpened his skill for coaching and has dramatically increased the efficacy of his approach.
Working with a large number of clientele on an individual basis has enabled him to effectively coach all levels of individuals. Michael's clients range from individuals who participate or compete in sports such as hockey, CrossFit, IronMan, runners (all distances), volleyball, soccer, golf, baseball, softball, curling, as well as those who are just looking to improve their fitness and overall health. Michael also has extensive knowledge and practical experience with coaching individuals on nutrition and designing an effective individualized approach to performance nutrition. In 2012, Michael became the owner and operator of Optimum Performance Training, Inc. in Calgary.

DJ Wickham - Coach

A talented football, hockey, and weightlifting athlete, DJ has always been dedicated to sport. After playing football for the U of C Dinos, he graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Education in 2010. DJ currently balances both his teaching responsibilities with the Rockyview School district, athletic training, and working at Optimum Performance Training.
As an educator, DJ is dedicated to constant learning and improvement. Since competing at the 2009 and 2010 CrossFit Games, DJ has evolved into an athlete and coach who excels in competitive situations. He has vast amount of experience training individuals and groups interested in improving their Olympic lighting skills. DJ combines his knowledge of Crossfit (Certified level 2 coach) and years of experience to the benefit of his clients.

Trevor Salmon - Coach

Trevor has been with Optimum Performance Training from almost the beginning. With a background in both boxing and track and field, he is able to program and train a variety of people, including older clients. Always focused on learning and improving, Trevor has balanced both the CrossFit methodology with years of experience and knowledge gained from working at Optimum Performance Training. While not working at Optimum Performance Training Trevor trains and competes as a Master Track athlete in the sprint events.

Rob Corson - Coach

Rob's experience in sport ranges from football to alpine skiing to track and field. A current CrossFit Master's athlete, Rob brings years of training experience to Optimum Performance Training. He consistently learns and gains fitness training knowledge and applies it directly to his clients' programming. While not training, Rob spends time with his family and enjoys travelling.

Geoff Aucoin - Coach

Geoff is very knowledgeable in the fundamentals of conditioning, which he has learned from both experience and practice. For Geoff, finding balance is one's life is priority. Between working as a firefighter, spending time with his family, and working at Optimum Performance Training, Geoff stays focused and ensures he maintains a balanced lifestyle. He loves to cook and focuses on educating others about the importance of eating healthy for overall energy and optimal health. Geoff brings years of competitive experience to each and every one of his training sessions.
